Camilla Parker-Bowles was excited to meet the ‘The Crown’ actress who played her

Camilla Parker-Bowles, aka the Duchess of Cornwall, met her on-screen couple in a moment that could have been quirky.

The 74-year-old future queen consort came face to face with Emerald Fennell — the actress who played Parker Bowles in seasons 3 and 4 of the Netflix series The Crown — at an International Women’s Day reception on Tuesday.

Luckily, there didn’t seem to be any hard feelings, and they were both delighted with the royal skirmish.

“I was nervous about being thrown into the Tower – but so far so good.” – 36-year-old man. Oscar joked at an event at Clarence House. “[Camilla] has been the center of attention for a long time and has always handled it with grace.”

The Duchess also admired the director and writer of Promising Young Woman in a speech during the party.

“It’s very satisfying for me to know that if I fall out of my seat at any moment, my made-up alter ego will be here to take over,” Parker-Bowles said with good humor. “So, Emerald – be ready!”

“It was especially nice to meet her today on International Women’s Day because, you know, she does so much for so many especially women’s charities,” Fennell. told journalist Georgie Prodrom at the party.

Actress Olivia Williams will take on the role of the older Camille in seasons 5 and 6 of The Crown. The last two parts will be dedicated to chronicling the late 1990s and early 2000s of the reign of the royal family, which lasted several decades.

Last month, the set of the popular streaming service drama suffered some bad luck when around $200,000 worth of gems, silverware and antiques were taken away during filming.

One of the items stolen by the thieves was a copy of a rare Fabergé egg that belonged to Queen Elizabeth II’s grandfather, George V, in 1933. Items stolen also included candelabra, jewelry, a grandfather clock and a birdcage.

Other actors who have joined The Crown as older versions of the royal family include Dominic West as the Prince of Wales, Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Leslie Manville as Princess Margaret. Elizabeth Debicki transforms into Princess Diana.

It turns out that some members of the royal family are avid viewers of Peter Morgan’s cult series. According to Hello! magazine, the Queen’s youngest son, the Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie are big fans.

“They had a long-standing agreement that they would go to Windsor on the weekend to join the Queen for an informal dinner while watching TV or a movie,” an insider said in 2017. They have a Netflix account and they encouraged her to watch it from theirs. Luckily, she enjoyed it very much, although there were obviously some descriptions of the events that she found overly dramatized.”
