At 23, the actress already has a solid track record. We have seen her in no fewer than fifteen television series and in the cinema. “I’ve done a lot of films, but this is my first project with Mariloup. It was intimidating at first because I’m a big fan. I’m from the Mariloup Wolfe generation, I saw them in Ramdam, in Ready… Party! But very quickly developed a nice relationship of trust with her.

Camille appreciated the director’s way of doing things. “She works very closely with her actors and actresses, acting is really important to her vision. We discussed the lyrics, the characters’ intentions, it wasn’t fair: “I want you to do it like this…” She’s very open and knows where she wants to go. Even though I have a lot of experience, it is reassuring to be guided and given instructions on how to play. Then we know that we are on the right path.

Speaking about the film Cœur de slush, Camille clarifies: “It’s not a typical teenage film. It’s not cheesy, it’s current. There’s a beautiful moral, it’s an ode to brotherhood and friendship.

big sisters play
Speaking of brotherhood, as an only child, Camille really enjoyed the big sister role. “In the book, Annette moves the air and punches down any man who gets in her way, but there is no love triangle between her and her sister. So we don’t necessarily see the side of Annette that is territorial and wants to seduce at all costs. So I had to construct an alternate personality for this young woman, but knowing that she is literally the sister of Sarah-Maude (Beauchesne, the author of the novel of the same name and writer of the screenplay for the film), I had to do the mirroring anyway reflects his true personality.”

The complicity with Liliane Skelly, who plays her younger sister, is palpable. “It was instantaneous, we developed a real big sister/little sister relationship. Lili was learning about it every day, so was I, and we had a kind of motherly energy right away, best friends, and that’s what makes it feel so good in the film. I love it! She is so cool and good and beautiful! She has everything.”

Camille and Liliane also lived together during filming. “We shared a chalet in Sutton, Lili and I, and we were ill during filming. The temperatures were cool and we caught cold. It was normal, we toured together all the time. But Lili was a bit sicker than me, and one day, finishing my day a little early, I was able to go shopping. When she got back to the cabin I had made Lipton soup for her and brought out boxes of tissues and bedclothes. It was a bit like that, our relationship.

Big Brotherturning
Camille naturally caught the public eye two years ago when she attended the first edition of Big Brother Celebrities. She was eliminated 85 days into the adventure. Did taking part change anything for you? “It changed my cast. I have a lucky star because it could have gone wrong. My agent encouraged me to do this well, he told me not to mess around, not to make waves, just be myself and bubbly. “People will just see that you’ve become a woman,” he told me. The problem actually was that I only played “youth” roles, people just saw me there. So we could see that I had energy, I was seen in all kinds of situations and emotions. Right after I left the show, I landed a big radio deal hosting a morning show in Quebec City, and that made me do different things than before.

Contracts have followed each other since she landed a role in Fragments and then The Pearls. “Then there was Heart of Slush, and then a lot of things happened. I’m not saying it’s just because of Big Brother, but it changed the way I see things and interact with people. I lived for 85 days with François Lambert, Jean-Thomas Jobin and Emmanuel Auger, who are not of my generation at all. I had to adapt and had no choice but to mature. It’s sure to have changed me on many levels. Speaking of her role in Les Perles, Camille explains: “We’re in the comedy, it’s the story of Stéphanie (Bianca Gervais), a single mother with two young daughters. It’s happening on the North Shore, it’s super beautiful. I play Coralie, Yoan’s (Lucien Ratio) girlfriend, Stéphanie’s ex. I’m extremely trashy; I’ve never held a role like this before. we are somewhere else I wear heavy makeup, chew gum, wear low-rise pants and you can see my g-string sticking out! It’s a big compositional role. Lucien and I have developed a great bond. Les Perles is really light and fun, it feels good. Being on the north coast is good because we know little about this reality.

Camille was also in the cast of the Fragments series. A project that is particularly close to his heart. “I had worked with director Claude Desrosiers on the Feux series and Un sur 2. We’ve been working together since I was 11 and this was author Serge Boucher’s second project that I’ve been involved with. I felt spoiled. I gave my all to play Jacynthe, who is heavily inspired by one of her best friends who died of AIDS. It was touching to know that I was playing a real person who Serge Boucher loved.

We will also see Camille in Indéfendable as she is the focus of a case where the character played by Henri Picard robs a supermarket. “It’s going to be bad, he’s killing someone, I’m playing the cashier. There’s also Sam-Éloi Girard, who plays some kind of mafia guy; I had a lot of scenes with him.” Camille will also star in the Stéphane E. Roy film Pédalo. “I will play Mia, the blonde in Stéphane’s character. We’re shooting it in Cuba this fall, on an all-inclusive basis. It’s a project I can’t wait for with a great team. It will be exciting to shoot a film in the south!
