Camilo and Evaluna Montaner explain why they are raising Índigo as a non binary baby

Indigo was the name Evaluna Montaner and Camilo chose for their first child. When they announced it, there was some controversy over its rarity and many thought it was just a taste of the pair for that shade of blue. However, both left everyone amazed by explaining that their decision is related to the word being neutral and applying to everyone regardless of their gender.

There is of course a background to all of this. Camilo and Evaluna want to raise their baby – who is genetically female – as a non-binary person, meaning they will leave it up to their daughter to decide which gender she wants to identify with or not in the future. That’s how they explained it on the North American show Al Rojo Vivo.

Their decisions about the pregnancy aligned with their thinking: they didn’t perform the typical boy-girl revelation ceremony, and they didn’t want to know the baby’s gender until it was born.

Apparently, then, this isn’t just a fashion trend for the couple, it’s a family model that Indigo may include over the years given any decision about their identity. The decision was endorsed and celebrated by many, while others questioned it, arguing that the concept of a non-binary person is not widely held to this day.

Camilo Echeverry and Evaluna Montaner are one of the most popular couples in the art world. Her career in the world of music, television and social networks influenced the millions of people who follow her on her Instagram and Facebook accounts and currently on her YouTube channel.

In fact, the happy couple recently posted a video showing off every detail of their mansion. With three floors, five rooms, a large kitchen and a beautiful garden, it is a luxurious property.

“I love that you guys are around because it’s always exciting for me to enter this house and it’s brand new and it’s a blessing to be able to invite you. Besides the fact that this is a sacred place for us,” were the singers’ words before showing off every detail of their home in new documentary Camilo: the first tour of my life, which premiered November 19 on HBO.

At the entrance to the house there is a path surrounded by plants, along which Camilo, as he reports in the publication, likes to walk barefoot. The other part of the house they show is the living room, a spacious and bright room that adjoins a room where the young man plays music with his friends. As he climbed the stairs to the second floor, he said that it was there that he and his wife made the decision to buy the house.

On the second floor, he showed the study where he rehearses many of his songs and even shares them with his friends. Also, there is a room for visitors as it is very important to them. In fact, the artist takes a photo of each person he meets in different parts of the world and sticks it on the wall of his mansion.

She went down to the kitchen on the first floor, a large and furnished room where Evaluna likes to bake cookies for her husband, as little Montaner tells in the video. Finally, Camilo showed off the large garden he has and revealed that his home is the result of a lot of love and work from him and his wife. In fact, the song “Vida de rico”, which currently has more than 700 million views on YouTube, is inspired by the young couple’s desire for a home of their own.
