New York’s LaGuardia Airport just grounded its flights on Wednesday due to poor visibility from the Canada fires. There were numerous delays at New York JFK, Newark and Philadelphia airports. The cities are bathed in a very unsettling dense orange fog.

The situation is such that several cities are affected by the pollution. Authorities in Ottawa and Quebec have urged residents to avoid physical activity outdoors. The situation is expected to continue for the rest of the week.

Schools on the US east coast canceled outdoor activities and millions of Americans were urged to stay indoors on Wednesday as smoke from Canada’s wildfires drifted south.
The US National Weather Service has issued air quality warnings for virtually the entire Atlantic coast due to the amount of particulate matter in the atmosphere.
