Quebec’s Samuel Blais scored twice, including the game-winning goal in the third period as Canada won IIHF World Championship gold with a 5-2 win over Germany on Sunday in Tampere, Finland.

Canada won its second gold medal in three years. The Canadian team’s last win at this tournament was in 2021.

The Germans opened the game midway through the first period when Detroit Red Wings defenseman John Peterka spotted the blue line and then surprised Samuel Montembeault with a shot from the blocking side.
