The crown of Canada's Drag Race Will she return to Quebec after Thursday night's finale? “I hope!” launches Denim, a Quebec drag queen who is still in the running to succeed Gisèle Lullaby as the next superstar of Canadian drag.
“I auditioned for Canada's Drag Race four times. And today I have absolute confidence in myself, in my art and in my abilities. I feel like it’s my time,” Denim said in an interview with the Journal.
A victory in the finale, which will be broadcast tomorrow night, would not only give him the title of Canada's next drag superstar, but also a crown, a scepter and the sum of $100,000 in cash. To do this, the Quebecer will have to face the Ontario Aurora Matrix, the Albertan Nearah Nuff and the British Columbian Venus in the final round of the competition.

Trans and autistic
But the adopted Montrealer – originally from Prince Edward Island, she moved to the metropolis six years ago – sees her participation in the final as a victory in itself. Because she made it her mission to integrate RuPaul's large family through Drag Race to represent marginalized groups in society who benefit from low visibility in traditional media.
Because beneath Denim's makeup, wig and extravagant clothing is a transgender and autistic man. This made him the second trans man to join the ranks of the tentacle of the Drag Race empire in 2021, after Gottmik, finalist in the American edition.
“My ultimate goal is to break down prejudices and deconstruct preconceived ideas. Many people believe that autistic people cannot achieve the same success as them. But it's wrong. Everyone can achieve their dreams by working hard, regardless of their personality or gender identity,” says the drag queen.
From Canada to England
The future of denim is already well secured. The Quebecer will fly to London in a few days where she will take part in RuPaul's DragCon, an international convention that brings together RuPaul's fillies who have competed in the various international incarnations of the series.
Upon his return to the country, he will be touring with the four finalists of Canada's Drag Race throughout February. However, representation in Quebec is currently not planned.
“If I win, they won’t have the choice to add one!” says Denim, laughing.
