Lane Hutson, defender, Boston University Terriers (1st year)
- 19 years old
- Drafted: 2nd round 2022 (62nd overall)
- Record: 15 goals, 33 assists, 48 points in 48 games
- Among the top 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Trophy
- Analysis: Hutson needs no introduction. His performance in his first season of college is exceptional. His skating and vision of the game are his strengths. His size didn’t stop him from being one of the best defenders in the country. In his case, this is just the beginning.
Rhett Pitlick, left wing, University of Minnesota Golden Gophers (2nd year)
- 22 years old
- Drafted: 5th round in 2019 (131st overall)
- Record: 10 goals, 14 assists, 24 points in 38 games
- Analysis: Pitlick is a medium-term project for the Canadian. He finds success when, like his brother Rem, plays within his limits. He’s an honest worker who hasn’t opened up offensively yet. It will be interesting to see if he can take it to the next level in the years to come.
Luke Tuch, left wing, Boston University Terriers (3rd year)
- 21 years old
- Drafted: 2nd round 2020 (47th overall)
- Record: 9 goals, 11 assists, 20 points in 39 games
- Analysis: At 6-foot-2 and over 200 pounds, cloth moves air en masse across an ice rink. He can play a physical game, but he needs to improve his skating before he goes pro. We also speak of a project for him. He still has a few steps to go before he becomes an NHL player.
