cancels The Voice Brasil after 11 seasons without much success TV

The Voice Brasil will come to an end on Globo. The network decided to cancel the competition after being unhappy with the financial and ratings results of the edition that aired late last year. Slated for November, Season 12 will be the last of the format.

Globo even considered the possibility of airing a final edition in the first place, but registrations were open and the page is still active on Gshow, suggesting The Voice 2023 is still around. Filming is scheduled to begin in October.

“The Voice” comes to an end without one of its winners being musically successful. The most famous name to leave the program was Lucy Alves, but she also rose to fame as an actress after being cast in Luzia de Velho Chico (2016). The 11 music program winners did not even receive Globo’s endorsement to further their careers and the vast majority remain anonymous.

Fátima Bernardes will helm the final edition of The Voice, which airs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The idea is to do something special for the final season, like the conclusion of a cycle, with surprises, special guests, and homages to key moments in reality’s history. The problem is that the commercial quotas have not yet been sold and the station has to take money out of its own pocket to get the program on the air.

The Voice Brasil team has already been transferred to other productions, such as Pipoca da Ivete.

Despite being a popular program with some viewers, including the elderly, it has become a commercial failure and each year it is a tremendous struggle to sell sponsorship contingents. The format doesn’t bring many innovations, which deters the advertising market, which prefers to invest its funds in more innovative products.

The end of The Voice was pivotal in projecting a program for Fátima Bernardes to leave the newspaper at GNT. Soon she will start filming her new attraction, which will be shown between October and November.

Season 11 of The Voice Brasil ended in December as the leastwatched in history and with the format’s lowestrated weekday finale the opening episode aired on Sunday afternoons. The last episode scored only 15.3 points in the São Paulo metropolitan area, an index close to the 15.4 rating recorded at the end of the 2020 edition.

The difference is that at the time Globo had a heated argument with A Fazenda for leadership in the strip, which was not the case last year. Despite staying in first place with Fátima Bernardes, The Voice ended its season with an average of just 15 points.

When contacted, Globo did not return the report’s contacts.
