Christofer Gonzales won the national title with Universitario de Deportes in the 2013 season.
After several days of waiting, Universitario de Deportes announced its most celebrated signing for the 2024 campaign. Through its social networks, the cream club confirmed the hiring of Christofer Gonzales, who returns after nine years to the club where he grew up.
The 31-year-old midfielder arrived in the capital at dawn this Friday to sign his signature with the current Peruvian football champions. With no time to waste, the “U” held a press conference that same day to introduce all of its reinforcements. In it, Gonzales did not hesitate to express his gratitude for returning to the student team.

“Very excited, very happy to return home. At some point I mentioned it, I always wanted to come here again, I wasn't given the opportunity to train here again. I would like to thank Jean Ferrari and Manuel Barreto for giving them the opportunity to return home,” Canchita told the media.
Although Christofer assured that Universitario was his “first love”, he also expressed his respect for Sporting Cristal, a club he defended for four years.
“Without a doubt, after what happened, I don't want to forget that Sporting Cristal is a team that I like a lot, you always have to be grateful in life. “I felt some nice feelings, now I’m here and I just want to enjoy, especially on the occasion of the 100th anniversary,” the flyer reads.
In addition, Jean Ferrari was satisfied with the reinforcements that Universitario received to participate in the Liga 1 2024 and the Copa Libertadores.
“The goals we set were achieved because we wanted players, professional footballers, who would do justice to our rich history. Let them make the leap in quality that we wanted so much,” said the club administrator.
In this way, the “U” made six new signings in the current transfer market: Christofer Gonzales, Diego Dorregaray, Sebastián Britos, Christopher Olivares, Jairo Concha and Segundo Portocarrero.
Canchita will be presented today at the Monumental Stadium in front of the more than 50,000 fans who will attend the Noche Crema. In this case, Fabián Bustos' team will play a friendly match against Coquimbo Unidos from Chile.
