Candace Owens slams Ben Shapiro as ’emotionally unhinged’ as Israel feud escalates – New York Post

Candace Owens called Ben Shapiro “emotionally unhinged” and “unprofessional” – the latest escalation in the feud between the two Daily Wire stars over Israel.

Owens took to social media on Wednesday to respond to Shapiro, co-founder of The Daily Wire, who urged her to resign from the right-wing news network.

“Candace, if you feel that taking money from The Daily Wire is somehow between you and God, then by all means stop,” the passionate pro-Israel Shapiro wrote on his X social media account.

Although Shapiro is co-founder and co-owner of the news site, he has said in the past that he did not have the authority to fire Owens, who hosts the Daily Wire’s “Candace Owens” talk show.

Caleb Robinson, CEO of The Daily Wire, has hiring and firing authority at the company.

Shapiro, who holds the title of editor emeritus at The Daily Wire in addition to his duties as host of The Ben Shapiro Show, responded to a post by Owens in which she quoted a verse from the book of Matthew.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God,” Owens wrote, quoting the Bible verse.

Then she added: “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate one and love the other, or you will be devoted to one and despise the other.”

“You cannot serve God and money at the same time,” she wrote.

Shapiro responded to Owens’ post by urging her to resign, prompting Owens to hit back.

“You have been behaving unprofessionally and emotionally unhinged for weeks,” Owens wrote.

“And we all had to sit back and let it happen and we all tried to be extremely understanding of your raw emotions.”

The feud between Owens and Shapiro began earlier this week when a user on X posted a video in which Shapiro criticized the commenter over her stance on Israel.

“I think their behavior there was, without a doubt, disgraceful,” Shapiro said.

“I think their feigned sophistication on these particular issues was ridiculous.”

In an interview with former Fox News star Tucker Carlson on his X show on Wednesday, Owens said she would not make any “ad hominin attacks” against Shapiro, who should be “embarrassed” by his handling of the situation.

“I would hope that there would always be civil disagreements among colleagues,” she said.

“I would like it to remain respectful and not to offend your colleagues.”

Owens has been a vocal critic of Israel and the U.S. government’s support for the country’s military operations in Gaza, which were launched in response to the surprise attack by Hamas terrorists on October 7 that killed at least 1,400 Israelis.

The Israeli military’s response has drawn strong criticism due to the high number of civilian deaths.

Palestinian health authorities in the Gaza Strip say more than 10,000 people have died as a result of the intense Israeli bombardment.

Israel has claimed it is targeting senior Hamas commanders who have built underground facilities located beneath civilian buildings such as hospitals.

“No government ever has the right to commit genocide,” Owens wrote on her X account earlier this month. She didn’t mention Israel, although it was implied.

“There is no justification for genocide. I can’t believe this even needs to be said or is considered even remotely controversial.”

Owens has also amplified contributions from left-wing figures such as Max Blumenthal, a frequent critic of Israel, and others.

Shapiro has criticized Owens in the past for defending rapper Kanye West after he made anti-Semitic comments.
