On Sunday, David had shared a sweet bonding experience with daughter Isla in the field.

The delighted dad adjusted Isla’s sandal at the end of the first cricket test match between Australia and South Africa at the Gabba in Brisbane over the weekend.

The 36-year-old crouched down to help the two-year-old, who was wearing a cute sundress.

Candice watched from the stands, the 37-year-old watched intently throughout the game.

The sweet moment came after Candice revealed how cricket fans at the Adelaide Oval hit her with a spate of insults during the second Test against the West Indies while she was with her children.

The incident happened just before lunchtime last Saturday afternoon, when two of the Warners’ three daughters wanted to see their father David.

Candice walked the 200 meters from one section of the stadium to another, holding her daughters’ hands as the group of men abused them.

“As we passed a huge group of people, a group of five or six men decided to do it [hurl abuse]’ she told the Triple M Summer Breakfast radio show.

“They were extremely fair and used vile insults at me. So I kept walking and then I stopped and looked around for this group of men – and there was one guy in particular.

“They laughed and they showed and thought what they were doing was fine.

“So I decided to confront these guys. I didn’t have to, but with my girls in my hands, I felt it was really important to confront them.

“Because for us, my actions need to reflect the messages I’m giving to my children.”

Candice said the group’s reaction when she confronted her was telling.

“Like any group of men who have been drinking, they were weak, they were brave, they didn’t stand by what they were doing, and the man who actually cried out that abuse was hiding behind his friend,” she said.

“I just said, ‘Do you feel good trying to intimidate me, belittle me, embarrass me in front of my kids? You clearly don’t have any children of your own. It is not okay. It’s not okay to bully someone. It’s not okay to make fun of others.”

“The sad thing is, at a time when we’re trying to encourage more women [and] that more young girls are playing sports, playing sports, that I now feel like it’s not safe for me and my children to play sports and support their father.’

Candice said it was equally disappointing that no one in the crowd defended her or even cared about her well-being after the shocking attack.
