Captain Carter battles the Scarlet Witch in the new trailer for the Multiverse of Madness

A new teaser for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reveals this fan favorite What if…? Heroine Captain Carter is part of the highly anticipated sequel. This is also confirmed by the new teaser Patrick Stewart returns to his role as Professor X, which will no doubt have fans wondering who else is hiding in the master of mystical arts’ next adventure (Benedict Cumberbatch).

Focusing on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of the Illuminati, the new teaser shows Captain Carter throwing her iconic shield, painted to copy the flag of Great Britain. While Marvel Studios didn’t do the cast Hayley Atwell Officially, the blind-and-you-miss moment suggests the actress is back to play a new version of Peggy Carter, a role she’s had all along Captain America Trilogy.

COLLIDER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Since Captain Carter is one of the highlights of a teaser that focuses on the Illuminati, this could also be Marvel Studios’ way of teasing the heroine, who is part of the MCU version of the secret society. Marvel Comics Illuminati is a team comprised of some of the world’s most influential heroes who, behind their teammates’ backs, make decisions that will shape the future of humanity. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Stephen is brought before the council for his crimes against space-time.

Captain Carter rose to international fame after appearing in several episodes of the animated series What If…? by Marvel Studios, a collection of stories set in numerous timelines. In a certain timeline, Peggy Carter took over the super soldier serum in place of Steve, leading to the creation of the heroine, Captain Carter. Since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will follow Stephen Strange visiting multiple dimensions, fans were hoping their What If…? Character translated into live action. More than wishful thinking, the Captain Carter rumor was also fueled by an Easter egg with her shield hidden on one of the official posters. Well, now it’s official! Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just got a whole lot more interesting with the return of Peggy Carter.

In order to prevent all of reality from collapsing, Stephen must find some powerful reinforcements in Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness. Besides counting on Wanda Maxmioff (Elizabeth Olsen) and his comrade-in-arms Wong (Benedict Wong), the wizard also finds a new ally in Xochitl Gomez‘s America Chavez, a heroine capable of leaping through dimensions. However, all this support might not be enough as Stephen is next to Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and the Illuminati, including extradimensional squid monsters, zombies, and even an evil version of himself.

Sam Raimi Directed by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness from a screenplay by Jade Bartlett and Michael Waldron. Raimi is also known for steering that Spiderman trilogy with Toby Maguire as a web slinger.
