CAQ MPs must remain silent, says PSPP

The leader of the Parti Québécois, who is preparing a large militant rally, reiterates that the elected representatives of the CAQ must be “silent” and put the interests of the party before those of the common good.

“We haven’t seen them in several regions of Quebec. And we didn’t hear them because they were told to keep quiet. It was said by an MP in Abitibi and recently relayed in Le Nouvelliste by an MP in Charlevoix,” Paul St-Pierre Plamondon said during a press crush in Baie-Comeau that saw nine activists relocated. “The three women from the CAQ say: We don’t have this freedom of speech to defend the files, if they were in the opposition they would have more freedom to fight.”

In his opinion, this is an understanding of democracy in which the interest of the CAQ comes before solving problems in the districts.

“It stands in the way of silence on issues like housing shortages, air pollution, places in CPE,” he enumerated. “I think it hurts democracy.”

Big gathering?

In an interview with our colleague Antoine Robitaille, the PQ leader announced that he would prepare a large gathering like Éric Duhaime did in Quebec, bringing together 3,000 people.

“We’re going to have our big rally,” he said in an interview, saying he, too, managed to get the crowds going.

Will there be so many people [qu’au rassemblement conservateur]?

“I don’t want to commit in advance to anything that we organize,” he said at first, then added that he thinks so.

“But I think so, absolutely. But not only who will attract people, but he will also attract personalities who will be happy to attend this meeting,” he said.

When asked about it during a press throng in Baie-Comeau, the chef tried to put his remarks into perspective, saying he “never said that”.

“I never said that. I said that there will be a Parti Québécois rally before the end of the campaign.

Will it be as big as Éric Duhaime’s?

“To be continued, it’s going to be exciting,” he said just before heading out to a game of bowling.
