A woman was killed and at least four people were injured after a soccer match in Torreon, northern Mexico, all hit by a man driving a car, the Monterrey club announced Monday.

“We deeply regret that one of our fans died and that several fans were injured during Sunday night's events in Torreon,” Monterrey CF, which won 2-0 on the field on Sunday, wrote on social media from the Santos Laguna- Club.
According to the Mexican press, after this setback, a suspected Santos Laguna supporter drove a van into the opposing fans.
“At this point, those suspected of being responsible for these incidents have been arrested and made available to local authorities,” the Santos Laguna club added in a separate statement.
For its part, LigaMX, organizer of the Mexican soccer championship, was “confident” that the authorities will continue the ongoing investigation quickly.
Its executive president, Mikel Arriola, announced that “the facts will be established.”
The “Rayados” (“Striped”) of Monterrey and the “Guerreros” (“Warriors”) of Santos, two clubs that play about 330 km apart, have an intense rivalry in Mexican football and there have been violent incidents between their respective fans.
