Caribbean countries receive international aid from Canada

According to the northern country's Minister of International Development, Ahmed Hussen, the financing of 39.2 million Canadian dollars (around 28 million dollars) includes various initiatives in favor of countries such as Haiti, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia and Suriname.

His announcement after attending the 46th Regular Session of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community in Guyana reaffirms Canada's commitment to the region in joint work with other international organizations, including Cuso International and the Coalition of Vulnerable Caribbean Communities.

In particular, the Eastern Caribbean Alliance for Diversity and Equality will receive $5 million to promote the rights of LGBTQ people in all their diversity and advance gender equality.

Another beneficiary will be the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism, which will receive $4.2 million to advance the clean energy transition in the Caribbean fisheries and aquaculture sector, operating in St. Vincent, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana and Jamaica is working.
