Speaking to Lorraine on Thursday morning, the star opened up about her roommates and how she coped in the jungle.

When asked about the taped show, she was quick to say, “Janice Dickinson, we’re not going to talk about her. She’s crazy, totally crazy.’

The former Countdown presenter, 62, continued to share her love for Helen Flanagan and revealed she has a cute nickname for the former Coronation Street star, 32, referring to her as “my little meerkat”.

She told her: “So Helen Flanagan, who I have absolutely and totally fallen in love with. She is my little meerkat. I love her.’

Carol then moved on to former boxer Amir Khan, 36, branding him “one of the funniest men alive”.

“And of course Ashley [Banjo] Now, as we present the Pride of Britain Awards together, I’m essentially part of the Banjo family.

“It was fun and tough, and a lot of people I knew before… Paul Burrell, Fatima Whitbread – what a woman, what a story.”

Alongside those mentioned, Carol will be joined by Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder, 60, and former England cricket international Phil Tufnell, 56.

More stars will be announced in due course, with the series set to air late next month.

The challenges get bigger and tougher and the environment harsher and more unforgiving than the usual Australian jungle.

Without a public vote, they will go head-to-head in a battle to become the first I’m A Celebrity Legend.

Ant said: “That’s a question we’re always asked… who would you put back in the jungle?

“So to get this opportunity to do a brand new show in South Africa and put some of our previous housemates through their paces again was the dream.”

Dec added, “It’s bigger and wilder than we could have hoped for, so viewers are in for a real treat!”

Former soap actress Helen, who appeared in the 12th series in 2012, entertained viewers for the first time.

Helen reportedly annoyed producers and even hosts Ant and Dec by completing numerous challenges without even attempting them, causing tension at camp as the celebrities went without food for almost 10 days.

She said of her return to the show, “I’m not saying I’m going to go in and be a jungle warrior and be absolutely amazing because I’m not going to do that.

“Yes, I will be scared, but I will try and I will be much better than last time!”

Former Countdown star Carol became the eighth celebrity voted off the 2016 series and spent 18 days in the Australian jungle alongside winner Scarlett Moffatt after entertaining viewers with her flirty banter and jungle showers.

Carol said of her return: “Being a celebrity has changed me a lot and I can’t wait to be a part of this new series.

“I loved everything about I’m a Celebrity [the first time round].’

She added: “We still have a WhatsApp group!”
