Carp fish survives in the freezer after being caught for 48 hours

A woman bought one in England Fish for dinner and found he was still alive after 48 hours in a freezer. The lucky one was Cindy Lao from the town of Cheltenham.

According to her, the crucian carp was bought from a fishmonger in Greenford while she was visiting friends in London for Chinese New Year on February 10. After she got home, she put the fish in the freezer and didn’t think twice about it until she got the carp out to cook dinner. The lady was shocked to find the fish was still alive even after 48 hours in the freezer!

crucian carp

Crucian carp, also known as coldwater carp, is a freshwater fish native to Europe and Asia. It is a species much appreciated by sport fishermen and is also used in fish farming since it is farmed in lakes, dams and basins.

This species is known for being resistant to cold water and low oxygen levels, and can be found in lakes, rivers, streams, and other bodies of water in temperate climates. It is able to adapt to different temperature and food conditions, making it a species Relatively easy to breed in captivity.

“Cindy called me when she thought she saw the carp’s gills moving and asked me what I thought of it. They really were. I was in doubt about putting the poor guy out of his misery,” her husband Paul LewisBorman said, according to Metro.

As we have already mentioned, the fish is very resilient in cold waters. So Cindy’s husband put him in a bathtub. He lay listlessly in the water for 20 minutes. But then “it went back to normal”. The couple named the carp Lazarus, after a character in the Bible who rose from the dead. Weird, is not it?!

“He’s been through a lot. It had been sandwiched between all those dead fish the whole time and it was almost dinner time. We are happy that he now has a good home. The lady (who took him in) told us he now has a best friend fish who he is happily swimming with in his new home.”
