Mat Askham, a carpenter from Exeter, England, found a face “like Jesus Christ” looking at him from a piece of wood. When Mat sealed the inside of a closet with an oil varnish, the carpenter thought of turning the place into a place of pilgrimage. The information comes from the Extra portal.

“I was making kitchen furniture for one person, and it was only when I treated it with oil that it (the image of ‘Jesus’) mysteriously appeared in front of me. I was like, ‘Oh my god, look at that, there’s a face looking at me.’ He looked at me, I looked at him and I had to take a picture of him right away because he was so funny.”
After what happened, Mat is considering turning the site into a pilgrimage site and charging pilgrims to enter the site, which he says has become a “sanctuary.”
“It’s really crazy. You can see two eyes, a nose, a bit of a mustache and a goatee. The ears are covered by the hair on the side. It’s scary that a very Christian friend came up to me, we talked for half an hour. Then, five minutes later, I saw the face of Jesus in a kitchen. These things don’t happen every day,” he added.
