Alessandro Orsini was a guest on the latest episode of Cartabianca, the nightly talk show on Rai3 hosted by Bianca Berlinguer, exploring various issues related to the war between Russia and Ukraine. The professor wanted to underline how the West’s recent moves are delaying the end of hostilities: “The International Criminal Court is an instrument in the hands of the West to defeat its opponents. The arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin removes peace and the possibility of dialogue. How can we make a deal with a war criminal?”.

He then condemned the words of John Kirby, US Security Council spokesman: “The United States does not want peace, let alone a ceasefire. Putin is a war criminal and Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on the same level. There is no way to reach a ceasefire. Kirby has officially declared that the US is opposed not only to a peace agreement but even to a ceasefire. The White House has officially declared that it is against a ceasefire, the US position is the enemy of peace and the ceasefire. The official position of the White House, as Kirby said, is that the war must go on without an hour’s rest.”

Orsini, professor of sociology of international terrorism, then concluded his speech: “I don’t doubt that Russia has committed crimes, I doubt the fact that the European Union has lost its mind. The European Council of Foreign Ministers has decided that by 2023 we will produce one million ammunition for 2 billion euros, which will be delivered to Ukraine. Everything we do, including the arrest warrant for Putin, is against peace.”
