Cashew on a blackberry tree in a commercial with Grazi Massafera becomes a joke on the Internet: “Hung by the chestnut .com

Campaign failures led to memes on the Internet Reproduction/L’occitane

A commercial with Thank you, Massafera is causing a stir on social media. With a cashew theme, the video begins with the actress reaping the fruits. However, two details caught the attention of netizens. As if the fruit were not hanging upside down on the branch (i.e. on the nut), the tree shown in the pictures is not a cashew tree, but a blackberry tree.

The campaign in question comes from L’Occitane, a cosmetics brand known for using typically Brazilian ingredients in its products. The failures became a joke online, leading to several memes and outraged the public. Following the controversy, the original video is no longer available on any of the brand’s official profiles.

In one of the publications, a profile asks how errors in advertising approval were overlooked. “How do they let this go? Normally there are about 20 professionals (advertising, PR, marketing) who approve it,” he asked.

One netizen tried to justify the incident by bringing up an old problem between people in the Northeast and the Southeast, since the plant is originally from the Northeast of Brazil: “This was clearly done by a person from the Southeast who has never in his life saw a cashew tree. And the worst part of all is that it went through a team that saw it and approved it. They didn’t even bother to research it.”
