Catherine Tyldesley has reportedly canceled her 40th birthday party after she was “caught by surprise” by online revolt over a heated argument over free cake.
The former Coronation Street star hired party planners NVRLND to organize it, but they caused controversy when they asked an independent bakery to bake a large birthday cake, a smaller birthday cake for Tyldesley’s husband and 100 cupcakes for free.
The company told Rebecca Severs of Three Little Birds Bakery that payment for the order would be “through a promotion,” but she hit back, turning down the offer, saying her employees “can’t feed their kids, when they are illuminated”. ‘Instagram.’
The September 1 party has now been canceled after Ms Tyldesley reacted furiously at her proposal, reports the Mirror.
A source close to the actress said: “Cath was taken by surprise by Cakegate and found the whole thing very upsetting so she’s decided to have a quieter celebration.”

NVRLND did not tell Ms Severs whose birthday party the request was for, just saying it was for a “well-known celebrity”.
Ms Severs shared her response with the PR, who asked for the cakes at the height of the cost of living crisis, in which she said: “I’m so sorry to hear your client has fallen on such hard times that they cannot .” small businesses can afford to pay for their products.
“Unfortunately, since my mortgage lender is not taking payments “in the form of advertising on their social media” and my employees are unable to provide their children with exposure on Instagram, I have to decline your very generous offer.”

Ms Tyldesley broke her silence after the post went viral when she shared a video on Instagram titled “Cake Gate – The Truth”.
In it, she said she wasn’t aware that NVRLND sent the request to Ms Severs, but added, “I hope the cake lady got the attention she was craving.”
She was widely criticized for her reaction on social media.
