Keanu Reeves was a special guest at “CCXP” in Sao Paulo yesterday. On the Omelete stage, the actor commented on the film “John Wick 4”, which is due out in March this year, and assured that there will be more action than ever. He also got on his knees on stage in gratitude for the Brazilian audience’s affection.
As soon as Keanu arrived at the event for the interview, Keanu was greeted by the audience, who all chanted, “You’re stunning!” He replied: “What? You are stunning!”.
The actor started talking about what it’s like to play John Wick and what surprises the character brings. “It’s an extraordinary role, I get to do so many crazy things. Whether it’s riding horses or having a knife fight. But it’s the world of John Wick. What will happen? I have no idea and it’s cool.”
John Wick 4
When asked if there were more “over the top” action scenes compared to his previous films, the actor replied, “What’s over the top? There is more action in this film. And… Yes, I think the director has a vision. Try to make interesting scenes. There’s a big fight in the middle of the street, in front of the Arc de Triomphe, we go back to the horses, there’s car driving, swords, archery… crazy John Wick stuff”.
He said he had to work hard to get the job done. “John Wick 4 was the most difficult film I’ve ever made. In terms of action, he’s the hardest. But that’s what makes him so good.”
career as a director
Interviewer Marcelo Hessel points out that the actor has already staged his own martial arts scenes. He asks Keanu if he intends to direct.
“I hope so. I would love to direct again, I just need to find the right story. In the kung fu film I did, ‘The Tai Chi Man’, I helped develop the script and I have to find these kinds of story situations again,” said.
“Something that comes out of that crazy head and that crazy heart and becomes a story that I have to tell. And I still haven’t found it.”
Action Movies
However, when asked if he saw himself as an “action film ambassador,” Keanu was unsure. “I don’t know, man. I made a documentary about film and digital filming called ‘Side by Side’. I grew up watching movies and loved them. I started acting when I was 16. And I love films, I like going to the cinema.”
“I love big screens and loud noises. I love the excitement of watching a movie you’re looking forward to with friends. When a Quentin Tarantino movie comes out, I’m like, ‘That’s it, man! Let’s go to the cinema!'”.
“In that sense I can say that I love films, I love action films, but I love cinema. I love making films, being a part of watching them and I really love seeing them on a big screen.”
