CD Projekt wants to further expand its Cyberpunk 2077 universe with a live-action project.
The untitled project announced today is a collaboration between CD Projekt and Anonymous Content, the production company behind True Detective and Mr. Robot, as well as Oscar-winning films such as The Revenant and Spotlight.
CD Projekt is working with television executive Garret Kemble of Anonymous Content Studios, development director Ryan Schwartz and chief creative officer David Levine. The latter was previously EVP and co-head of drama at HBO for over ten years and led production on series such as True Detective, Westworld and True Blood. He was also involved in the production of the first seasons of Game of Thrones.
According to CD Projekt, this project is in early development and the search is on for a screenwriter who can tell a brand new story in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt had huge success with the animated Netflix spin-off Cyberpunk Edgerunners, so it’s no surprise that the company is looking to expand the franchise into Hollywood territory.
Today, CD Projekt released a series of Cyberpunk 2077 updates, including the game selling 25 million copies. The Phantom Liberty expansion sold three million copies in its first week of sales. Meanwhile, CD Projekt announced a management shakeup, with CEO Adam Kiciński confirming plans to take up a supervisory role in 2025.

Phantom Liberty was released on September 26th, with Update 2.0 laying the foundation a few days earlier. It completely overhauled Cyberpunk 2077 with features like a new perk system and improved AI, while also bringing closure to an Elon Musk fan theory, a nod to late racing legend Ken Block, and bizarre additions to the game’s biggest mystery.
