Ceasefire for the release of 50 hostages and 150 Palestinian prisoners. LIVE

The Israeli Ministry of Justice has published the list of 300 Palestinian prisoners who could be released under the hostage deal approved by the Tel Aviv government. From this point onwards, the 24-hour period within which an appeal can be lodged with the Supreme Court begins.

As of this writing, Israel has agreed to release approximately 150 prisoners in return for the release of fifty Israeli hostages. However, according to the agreement with Hamas, the organization will attempt to locate and release up to fifty more hostages during the days of the ceasefire. In this case, Israel will release the same number of prisoners in return.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and security cabinet member Benny Gantz were each allowed to decide on the identity of the prisoners to be released from the pool of 300 now submitted. They were also authorized to set the final date of the ceasefire – with a view to the possibility of Hamas releasing more hostages – provided that the total duration does not exceed ten days.
