Cecchetto Linus, the rags are still flying: “Non existent, he was my employee”

The long-distance fight between Claudio Cecchetto and Linus continues. The founder of Radio Deejay and the current artistic director of the station, who came into contact in recent days after the release of the documentary entitled “People from Cecchetto”, do not stop fueling social media and newspapers with their controversy. First up was Linus, who defined “Deejay Calls Italy” – which he co-hosts with Nicola Savino – the documentary film about Cecchetto's career that was broadcast in mid-December on Rai1 and traced the history of all the talents discovered by him as “uninteresting”. became the record producer and well-known faces of the local music and television scene. Linus then went one step further by calling his former boss a “fool.” His son Jody defended him and took to social media to recall his father's contribution to the founding of Radio Deejay and denied the radio host. However, Cecchetto wanted to personally intervene in the pages of Il Corriere della Sera.

After expressing a heartfelt thank you to Jody on social media for his defense, a thought for his second son and his wife, he commented on Linus. “He came in 1984. I hired him and I underline this – says Cecchetto – he was my employee.” But 1995 is the year of the founding of the L'Espresso group with Carlo De Benedetti and with their arrival “they began to lay the rules of the game “My mission consisted of two goals: on the one hand, to take over the management of the number one radio station in Italy and on the other hand, to discover and promote talent,” he remembers. “The mission of Espresso, or rather my opponents, was to do a lot of advertising and invoices.” And what does Linus do? “He decided to stay and became an employee of L'Espresso Group. He chose to be on the side of the strongest. But – says Cecchetto – I don't want to stir up non-existent dualism, I still say today that my antagonists were L'Espresso and De Benedetti.” But why, if we don't want to talk about dualism (at least according to the founder of Radio Deejay) , did Linus start such an argument? “Ask him. Not for me. Many of you ask me this question, but it is clear that this question should be asked of him and not of me. Because it must be clear that these attacks came from him. It is not in my nature to attack someone.

Linus also highlighted the low proportion of the documentary and how did the disc jockey react? With a clear “who cares”. “But who cares about the ratings? For me it was like winning an Oscar, I was on Rai 1 in prime time – he says enthusiastically and remembers – it wasn't a documentary about me: there was 833, Jovanotti, Amadeus and Fiorello and then Gerry Scotti. Also Fabio Volo and Leonardo Pieraccioni, to name just a few. And then Carlo Conti, friend and colleague, also a talent scout, and many others. All people for whom one fact counts: When I brought them into existence, I was convinced that they would find their way. A documentary about the origins of Radio Deejay and about the so-called “Deejay's Gang”, which Linus, as Cecchetto explains, “degraded”. Nevertheless, the founder of Radio Deejay does not want to respond to the attack of his former employee: “I have just left the Riccione city council. Now I’m thinking about Visit Romagna – he explains, deflecting the question and answering the journalist who points it out to him: “We want to organize events on the Riviera not only for the summer, but also for the cold season.” Is that enough? Answer to the question?”
