An Iranian bride tragically died on her wedding day in the city of Firuzabad. The woman was hit in the head by a stray bullet from a rifle during a series of celebration shots. The victim’s name was Mahvash Leghaei, 24 years old. During the wedding reception, a man among the guests decided to celebrate the newlyweds by firing some “ceremonial” shots.

The man was the bride’s cousin
Unfortunately, the celebratory fanning ended in the worst possible way. While the guest was firing a shotgun, held without a license, one of the bullets hit the bride in the head, killing her. Two guests were also injured in the shooting. The 24-year-old was taken to the hospital, but the injuries were too severe and rescue efforts were useless. The other two victims survived with minor injuries.
“We received an emergency call about a shooting at a banquet hall in the city of Firuzabad. The agents were dispatched immediately,” police spokesman Colonel Mehdi Jokar told local reporters. The man fled after the incident. However, the authorities managed to arrest him a few hours later. The perpetrator of the shooting is said to be the bride’s 36-year-old cousin.
Mahvash Leghaei had recently graduated in psychology. For a short time he also worked as a social worker and helped many drug addicts. According to the young woman’s wish, the family would have donated her organs to three sick patients.
