Celine Dion, who suffers from a neurological condition, postpones the resumption of her tour

I always give 100 percent at my concerts, but right now I’m not in the condition to do so, the singer said in a video posted to social media on Thursday morning.

In this very emotional message, the Quebec artist points out that this disease, which she says affects around one in a million people, is at the root of the muscle spasms that have been plaguing her for a long time.

She says the condition, called Moersch-Woltman syndrome (stiff-person syndrome), interferes with her everyday life, especially when she walks and uses her vocal cords. A medical therapist helps her daily by subjecting her to physical training aimed at restoring her strength and endurance.

It’s my children who give me the courage and hope to continue, she said, fighting back tears. But I have to admit it’s an ongoing struggle.

Singing is what I’ve done all my life and I can’t imagine not being able to do it anymore.

The singer, who turns 55 next March, hopes she’s on the right track.

She ends her message by thanking the many people who have sent her encouragement.

I love you so much and I really, really hope to see you again soon.

It’s not the first time the tireless singer has had to cancel shows for health reasons. In January 2022, she had to give up performing in North America as she was being treated for severe and persistent muscle spasms.

The same health issues had also kept her from performing in Las Vegas in October 2021.
