Cellular Networks Down Nationwide: Emergency services across America are crashing as AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile customers from New York to LA report no service or connection and many phones display SOS messages

At&T, Verizon and T-Mobile users reported early Thursday that they were experiencing network issues nationwide and in Canada.

The issue has left At&T iPhone users stuck in SOS mode, meaning users can only call emergency services.

According to DownDetector, the peak of the outages occurred around 4 a.m. Eastern Time. Service disruptions were reported in New York, Boston, Washington, Montreal, Honolulu, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco.

Most of the problems were reported by At&T users, increasing to 31,931 reports as of 4:30 a.m. More than 2,400 service outages from US wireless carriers Verizon and T-Mobile were also reported on the platform.

911 operators nationwide have warned that the outage has affected their ability to answer calls.

The major mobile phone companies have not yet issued a statement on the outages. It is not clear what the cause of the problem was.

Other smaller providers, including Boost Mobile, Consumer Cellular and Straight Talk, also reported similar outages.

WSB-TV in Atlanta reports that this is the second time in a week that the area's Verizon customers have experienced an outage.

In Orlando, the city's Fox affiliate confirmed that its local reporters had difficulty making contact. While in Tampa, some users told WFLA that their phone service was out as early as 2 a.m.

Customers in New Orleans reported that while calling was impossible, texting appeared to be working.
