The information was confirmed by his brother and band partner, bassist and singer Oswaldo Vecchione. The cause was not disclosed.

In a post on social media, Oswaldo explained:

“Rested! My dear little brother has rested! My teacher and partner, my hero, Celso Kim Vecchione! I ask for prayers for your soul! At this moment there is great pain… I go to Sampa completely disoriented!”

Celso and Oswaldo founded Made in Brazil together in 1967 in the city of São Paulo, one of the longestrunning bands in national rock. With a sound heavily influenced by blues and classic rock, the group reached its peak in the 1970s, releasing albums such as their eponymous 1974 debut, “Jack, the Ripper” (1975) and “Pauliceia Desvairada” (1978). “Massacre” (1977), in turn, was censored by the military dictatorship, as was his promotional tour.

Some brands underline the band’s pioneering spirit. They are considered to be the first rock artists in the country to use makeup (as early as 1969), use two drums, record and perform with a drum kit from the Samba school, and perform an original work at the Municipal Theater of São Paulo.

Although there have been more than 200 formations throughout its history which guarantees entry into the Guinness Book of Records Made in Brazil has always included Celso and Oswaldo. The group remained active recently after the bassist and singer suffered a stroke.
