Cups, straws and other single-use plastic items will be banned in Montreal’s 8,400 restaurants and grocery establishments starting March 28. Are the restaurateurs ready?

Here is the list of products that are now banned:
Compostable or non-compostable plastic items (numbers 1 to 7)
cups
glasses
sticks
straws
Utensils for consumption on site
Other articles made of polystyrene (number 6) or compostable (number 7) plastics
plates
container
Lid
Trays (except for meat and raw fish)
Utensils for takeout orders or deliveries
However, some exceptions are requested:
Pre-packaged food outside of the establishment
Plastic-coated cups, glasses and cardboard boxes (compostable or not)
Remember that there are seven types of recyclable plastics developed by the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) to make it easier to sort and recycle plastic waste.
The City of Montreal will not issue any insults for the first few days after the bylaws go into effect.

The restaurateurs in the metropolis affirm that they are adapting to the change.
