Jones called the offensive plays with the Ontario team. The Rouge et Noir offense ranked fifth in the Canadian Football League (CFL), tied with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in touchdowns scored (40). She also ranked in the same rankings in points scored per game (23.1) and ranked seventh in yards passed per game (347.9).

The Rouge et Noir finished its season in last place in the East Section with a record of 4-14. The team missed the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.

On Monday, general manager Shawn Burke announced that head coach Bob Dyce would remain in place but would reevaluate the rest of the coaching staff.

Jones joined the Ottawa club last January after briefly working as a consultant with the Tiger-Cats in 2022. He got this job after losing his position as head coach of the Montreal Alouettes in July of this year.

The American led the Sparrows for 38 games (including the playoffs) between 2019 and 2022. He maintained a record of 18-18 during the regular season and 0-2 in postseason games.

Before Jones made the leap to coaching with the Hamilton club in 2009, he had a long career as a quarterback in the CFL. He wore the colors of the British Columbia Lions, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Eskimos and Tiger-Cats.
