The Montreal Canadiens are visiting Las Vegas where they will face the Golden Knights this evening.
On this occasion, it will be Samuel Montembeault’s turn to defend the Habs cage.
In his last start last Thursday, the Quebecer allowed three goals on 36 shots in a 4-3 overtime win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
On Saturday, Jake Allen had another solid performance, making 42 saves a 4-3 shootout win over the Winnipeg Jets.
In the second meeting in a row, CH overcame a two-goal deficit and won. It was captain Nick Suzuki who scored the winning goal in the shootout. Allen was perfect in the shootout and recorded his third success in a row.
The challenge is likely to be great against the reigning Stanley Cup champions, who have not lost in regular time since the start of the season. The Golden Knights (8-0-1) suffered their only loss on Saturday, losing 4-3 in overtime to the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Canadians (5-2-1) are also on a good winning streak and have recorded four wins in their last meetings.
Contrary to all expectations, they are in second place in the Atlantic Section, tied on points with the Toronto Maple Leafs (5-2-1). Only the Boston Bruins (7-0-1) have a better record.
In Golden Knights camp, Adin Hill will be the starting goaltender.
