Chabelo resurfaces and impresses fans with his performance at the age of 87

After more than six years away from television, Xavier López “Chabelo” has made a public appearance again and his fans have been extremely surprised at how he looks at 87.

“The friend of all children” is the protagonist of the digital version of Caras magazine for April 2022, therefore some recent photos of the driver appear, adorning the issue.

In one of the pictures, “Chabelo” is sitting on a swing set, and while he’s not wearing his signature jumpsuit, his smile makes it clear he’s still having fun like the “eternal kid” he is.

“The Eternal,” “Chabelo will bury us all,” and “Obviously he’s in his prime, he’s barely a teenager right?” are some of the comments his fans wrote on the magazine’s Instagram post.

How is ‘Chabelo’ doing at the moment?

Xavier López ‘Chabelo’, who turned 87 on February 17, revealed to the publication how he is currently doing after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I’m in the best moment and enjoying the best in life. […] I’m in very good health at the moment and in excellent spirits,” he said.

The former host of “En familia,” which aired in 2015, said he regrets there aren’t as many family TV shows anymore and that he really misses doing live shows.

‘Chabelo’ also spoke about the thousands of memes he stars in that are circulating on social media, most of them about “his immortality” and the historical events he “witnessed”.

“I really enjoy it and I applaud the ingenuity of those who make them,” he said.

López is certain that thanks to the child character he created he is “in the memory of Mexican families”, a fact that makes him “very happy”.

Though the actor also didn’t reveal what he’s doing now that he’s out of the entertainment business, he said his passions are “golfing and soccer” and “motorcycles.”

Chabelo changed medicine for television

“Chabelo” is one of the most important personalities of Mexican television, but that may not have been the case since in his youth Xavier López, under pressure from his father, planned to become a doctor.

According to the publication, López began studying medicine in Mexico City, but after landing a job at Televicentro (now Televisa) and discovering his passion for television, he decided to pursue acting.

Before becoming the star of “En familia”, “Chabelo” took part in the show “Carrusel Musical” alongside “Tío Gamboín”, “Chistelandia” and in the film “El Extra” starring the late comedian Mario Moreno.
