“Chained”, a dark story

Chained a dark story

Just by looking at the master furrier Raik Doorman, the protagonist of “Bounded”, played by Oliver Masucci, the viewer already suspects that he is going to tell us a dark story. These are the advantages of a good cast in this German series directed by Florian Schwarz. The six episodes of the first season confirm the initial suspicion. Between 1986 and 1992, the city of Hamburg experienced the Doorman atrocities, and in that year, 1992, Commissioner Nela Langenbeck, played by Angelina Häntsch, decided to thoroughly investigate a kidnapping in which a murder was covered up, creating the appearance of a voluntary disappearance the bouncer became a victim. .

He had to go against the general opinion of his lazy colleagues and his boss, who thought the case was closed. His research led him to discover other similar cases, which were also despised by his colleagues. Little by little he reconstructed the profile of the main suspect, a person who had an answer to everything based on a remarkable ability to confabulate. The inspector’s persistence and the discovery of the various previous cases led to the formation of a special group of police officers, but they were tasked with guiding an experienced inspector in an unfortunate example of gender discrimination.

Longenbeck continued his work despite the guild’s snubs until he managed to uncover and prove the murders of the master furrier. A story that, as Prime Video emphasizes in its advertising, is based on real events, a detail that is actually indifferent since the main goal of any series, real or fictional, is to entertain and achieve couch fidelity. The inspector’s efforts achieved their goal: Rajk Doorman was sentenced to life imprisonment, which he is currently serving.
