Change at the helm of the Sabers

Buffalo Sabers owner Terry Pegula has decided to serve as president of his National Hockey League (NHL) team.

The organization announced Monday that Pegula Sports & Entertainment (PSE) would split its resources between the Sabers and the Buffalo Bills, Pegula’s NFL team.

“We are grateful for the work and effort that so many people have put into PSE over the years, but we believe now is the right time for them to serve in separate organizations,” Pegula said in a statement. We believe it is time to disband PSE and allow everyone to focus solely on their organization.”

Pegula bought the Sabers in February 2011 for $189 million. Three years later, he bought the Bills for $1.4 billion. The 72-year-old is also the owner of the Rochester Americans (American Hockey League) and the Buffalo Bandits (National Lacrosse League).
