Channel 10 employees responded to “emotionless and cold” emails sent by network executives as they suddenly abandoned Studio 10

Channel 10 employees hit back at the network’s executives after receiving a brutal email shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday declaring that Studio 10 had been shut down.

With the final episode airing on December 22, the breakfast show’s crew members were left “emotionless and cold” furious at the announcement.

The letter sent explained that the program was being discontinued, but offered no words of support or comfort to the team, The Daily Telegraph reported just hours later.

According to the release, a Channel 10 executive said many employees were upset by the lack of empathy and caring in the email.

“Just two weeks ago Studio 10 celebrated its 10th broadcast anniversary – now the team isn’t even being thanked for their hard work or achievements,” they said.

They added: “It is unfair for management to blame a ‘change in viewing habits’ rather than poor decision-making at the top.”

Network News director Martin White was the boss who sent out the email and said: “There will be a new morning line-up in 2024.”

He added that there will be “an increased focus on news and current events throughout the day,” with a 3:30 p.m. newscast added to the schedule.

“We will be welcoming some members of the Studio 10 team to the news team. “No news jobs will be affected by this change,” he wrote.

A spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that the final episode of Studio 10 will air on Friday, December 22, after more than a decade on Australian screens.

The presenters Angela Bishop, Narelda Jacobs and Tristan MacManus as well as special reporter Daniel Doody will remain with the station and will be deployed in various roles.

Bishop and McManus admitted it had been a “tough day” in an emotional Instagram video after they were informed of the news at midday on Tuesday.

“It’s a tough day for the entire Studio 10 family because we’ve loved bringing you the show for the last 10 years,” Bishop said.

“We are all very proud to be a part of it.” I would like to end with a quote: “Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.”

Meanwhile, another spokesperson from the channel thanked the show’s past and present hosts, staff and viewers for supporting the program.
