Channel Seven is looking to revive its reality show First Dates – after it flopped in the ratings two years ago
Channel Seven has announced a new season of First Dates Australia after the show was canceled in March 2020.
Based on a British format, the reality show follows singles in search of love who meet for the first time in a romantic setting.
The show’s producers, Warner Bros. Australia, have announced an over-18s casting call for the new season, which is expected to air in 2024.
First date candidates must be single and “sincerely looking for love.”

Narrated by comedian Sam Mac, the show ran on Channel Seven between 2016 and 2020 but was canceled due to poor ratings.
Channel 10 tried to revive the format with a new season in 2022.
But the reboot, narrated by comedian Tommy Little, was also a ratings flop.
First Dates premiered on Channel Seven in February 2016 and averaged 870,000 Metro viewers in prime time.
During its four-year run, the series lost traction, with the 2020 season averaging just 424,000 Tube viewers — well below prime-time benchmarks.
During her time on Seven, the show was not without its off-screen drama, as some contestants were unhappy with her portrayals.

Teacher Sarah Pettersen, whose date with gym teacher Adam Parker aired in 2020, accused the network of making her look “stupid” and “illiterate.”
“I was humbled by all of this,” she told Sunday Confidential shortly afterwards.
“I don’t mind if people make fun of my personality, but they made me look so stupid, and I’m a teacher,” she added.
