Multimedia mogul Charlamagne Tha God gave a blunt assessment of whether President Biden deserves the black vote if he seeks re-election in 2024: He hasn’t done it yet.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Charlamagne was asked to revisit his infamous 2020 “Breakfast Club” interview with then-presidential nominee Biden, when he told them “you’re not black” if they were between and President Trump would be undecided. Biden later went back on the comments.
“The only thing I took away from it was that he took a page from Trump’s book and he said the soft part out loud, you know?” said Charlemagne. “Because whether he said it in jest or not, I’m sure a large segment of the Democratic Party feels that way. They’re like, “Hey, black men, black women, they’re our most loyal voting bloc, and they show up for us no matter what.” And I think that’s something he probably said because he knew other people around him… It might have been shocking to hear that, but he didn’t say anything that people didn’t already know or people didn’t already feel like, hey, the Democratic Party takes the black voice for granted.”
He continued, “I think that’s something a lot of people realize, there are black conservatives out there. We’re sorry! You know what I mean? All blacks are not part of the Democratic Party who could vote for a Conservative at the local level. I bet you if you go to Georgia and look at some of the people who voted for Brian Kemp you’d be surprised, you know? Probably the same in Florida.

“So I think it’s just something that I don’t think the Democratic Party can take for granted anymore because everyone wants something tangible. Everyone wants something that specifically benefits their community. People vote on their interests, nothing more, nothing less.”
When asked if Biden deserved the black vote as he seeks re-election in 2024, Charlamagne replied with a resounding “no,” citing the failure to pass things like the George Floyd Policing Act.
“Listen, I have to see how the next two years go, you know?” said Charlemagne. “Personally, I mean, I haven’t seen almost everything they’ve promised black people… I still think they could have gone a lot further in terms of marijuana. Hey, it’s cool to pardon everyone who’s in federal jail for simple possession. But guess what? At the federal level, nobody is in prison with simple possessions. You are still the President. If you really wanted to, you could erase so many different records and let so many people out at the federal level with the stroke of a pen if you really wanted to get it there.
“They spread these lies voluntarily. I say that all the time. They voluntarily said, ‘Hey, we’ll do it. We’ll do it.’ And then they come into the office and they can’t get things done. Well, why lie voluntarily, you know?” he added.
During the interview, Charlamagne lamented that Biden was the Democrats’ “safest bet” for 2024, but wasn’t confident enough to say he would beat Trump in a rematch.
“I think it can go both ways. I don’t think it’s a sure thing, which is sad, is it?… It’s sad that we say it’s still a back and forth [Trump] and President Biden,” Chalamagne said after highlighting the numerous investigations plaguing Trump. “I think that rather shows what the Democrats are not doing. And to me, I just don’t see the bank that the Democrats have. I personally don’t see the person they could put up in 2024 that could really shake up and energize people. I mean, the fact that Biden is still their safest bet, ugh. I find that sad too.”
In a recent episode of his Comedy Central show “Hell Of a Week,” Charlamagne said Democrats had “no one” against Trump, who declared his candidacy last month, or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, R., who was quick to step up The Advance is a preferred GOP alternative to the party’s current flag-bearer.
When asked about Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential prospects, the “Breakfast Club” co-host quickly got angry.
“No, I don’t think the vice president stands a chance against Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis unless something magically changes in the next two years, and she pivots strongly, but based on what we’ve seen so far.” have seen, no,” Charlamagne said.
He was equally pessimistic about Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, though he praised him as “great” and credited him with being the only official in the Biden administration to appear consistently on his radio show.
“He’s part of the LGBTQ community. I think that gives him an empathy that maybe a lot of people don’t have, so he’ll be able to see things from a lot of different angles, but I just don’t know if America is going to embrace him for the same reasons.” he said.
While Charlamagne sees the Democrats scrambling to find the best presidential candidate, he also considers DeSantis a “very formidable opponent.”
“I think people are sleeping on Ron DeSantis,” Charlamagne said. “I can’t even believe the conversations I hear with people saying, ‘I don’t think he can win the national election.’ Why not? What will make them think he can’t win a national election? Sorry to tell y’all man. I’m from the south. I’m from South Carolina. More of the country is more like Florida than we might like to believe.”
Charlamagne told Fox News Digital that his “gut feeling” was that the Florida governor would let the victor walk away in a main fight, but he stressed how the celebrity has “a stranglehold” on the American consciousness, particularly a figure like Trump who ” electrified the country” when it first ran in 2016.
“But I think what gives DeSantis a good edge is that he seems to be more stable … We don’t want to go through this cycle of every day in the news, everyone’s talking about Trump. I mean, it just creates too much division. It leads to too much anxiety,” Charlamagne said, adding he doesn’t want to see him on cable news every five minutes. “And I think the non-stop media coverage helped him the first time around.”
