The king and queen consort, who will be crowned on May 6, “personally took the recipe for this quiche, a dish common in France but rare in the UK, which is featured on the royal family’s Twitter account selected”. .

She is expected to ‘encourage’ Britons to attend the big Coronation Dinner, the neighborhood party which they hope will take place over the weekend of May 6th.

The message is accompanied by a video showing a chef preparing the “coronation quiche”.

In addition to spinach, beans and tarragon, the recipe requires milk, crème fraiche, eggs and, of course, cheddar. It’s a dish that “easily adapts to different tastes and preferences,” boasted the royal family on Twitter. “To be eaten hot or cold with a green salad and boiled new potatoes”.

The 74-year-old king, who has posed as an environmental defender for decades, and his 75-year-old wife have therefore opted for a vegetarian recipe.

Will the quiche be as successful as Elizabeth II’s “Coronation Chicken” or “Queen Elizabeth’s Chicken”? Served during a Queen’s coronation banquet at Buckingham Palace in 1953, this poached chicken with creamy curry sauce has become a classic of British gastronomy.

It is now offered as a ready meal in supermarkets, as a filling for sandwiches or in various variations in cookbooks.

The coronation of Charles and his wife Camilla will take place at Westminster Abbey on May 6, attended by around 2,000 guests. Neighborhood parties follow over the weekend, a concert at Windsor Castle in west London. Britons are also called upon to volunteer on Monday May 8, which will be a public holiday.
