Once again, Princes Harry and Andrew were unable to present themselves in military clothing at the funeral service for Queen Elizabeth II this Monday (September 19). King Charles III “did not pull the strings” to allow his son and brother to wear the uniform like other royals, such as the late monarch’s youngest, Edward. It’s not the first time the sovereign has prevented the couple from wearing traditional attire.
As he renounced his royal duties in March 2020, Harry can no longer wear the uniform unless his father, King Charles, steps in and authorizes his son to do so. He gave the heir permission on Saturday (September 17). On that occasion, the Duke of Sussex attended his grandmother’s coffin guard along with his brother William and six cousins. The moment lasted 15 minutes.

Prince Andrew, on the other hand, was unable to wear the costume because he lost his military titles and godparenthoods after being embroiled in a sex scandal. Only royals working on behalf of the British Crown are allowed to wear official uniforms. Queen Elizabeth saved her son and grandson from “humiliation” at Philip’s funeral last year. She wanted all men to adopt the suit instead of the traditional attire.

Taking leave
Members of the Windsor dynasty are planning the final day of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, this Monday (September 19). King Charles and his sons, Princes William and Harry, walked in procession behind the gun carriage carrying the late monarch’s coffin from Westminster Hall, the building of the British Parliament, to Westminster Abbey, where a service is being held in the presence of heads of state and world leaders.
Inside the church, the ceremony brings together more than 2,000 people, including United States President Joe Biden; British Prime Minister Liz Truss; and the Spanish King Philip VI. Among the guests is the Chief Executive of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The monarch’s boat was towed by 142 Royal Navy officers.
