Charlie Rose interviews Warren Buffet four years after the #MeToo scandal

Four years after he was fired from CBS over allegations of sexual harassment, Charlie Rose has come back into the public eye with a lengthy interview with business tycoon Warren Buffett.

The interview appeared this Thursday on Rose’s personal website, which also includes archival interviews he conducted while he was a CBS news anchor. On the site’s homepage, Rose notes that this is the first interview he has conducted in over four years and implies that this will be the first of several independent interviews he will conduct.

“I’m proud to share this recent conversation with Warren Buffett,” Rose says on the website. “It’s his first on-camera interview in almost a year and the first I’ve had in over four years. It’s a step in a journey to engage the most interesting people and explore the world’s most compelling ideas.”

In 2017, in a lengthy Washington Post report, Rose was accused of sexual harassment by eight women, with several alleging he groped them or made unwelcome lewd calls to them.

After the Washington Post was published, CBS suspended him along with Bloomberg and PBS, which produced his long-running interview talk show. He was quickly fired from CBS and his PBS show was canceled.

Rose’s reckoning came early in the #MeToo movement, with the report of his alleged molestation coming months after the New York Times investigation into Harvey Weinstein.

Rose’s interview with Buffett doesn’t mention any of the allegations that ended his tenure at CBS and PBS. The hour-long talk instead focuses on Buffett’s career as chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, the Omaha, Nebraska-based conglomerate that owns prominent companies like GEICO, Duracell and Dairy Queen. During the interview, Rose also asked Buffett, the fifth richest person in the world, for his opinion on other prominent multi-billionaires, including Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk.
