Charlize Theron explains why she’ll NEVER gain weight for a movie again… after gaining an extra 40 pounds for 2018’s Tully

Charlize Theron says no to future extreme body transformations to help her get into the role.

The 48-year-old Oscar winner recently revealed in an interview with Allure that she’s no longer willing to gain any significant weight for a movie role.

She explained that although she was once able to shed dozens of pounds in a short amount of time in her mid-20s, it just became too difficult at her age to shed the extra weight.

However, when she attempted to slim down to her normal height after completing Jason Reitman’s critically acclaimed 2018 dramedy “Tully,” she found that shedding the 40 pounds she had been trying to lose was no longer so easy had recently increased for the role of a woman give birth.

In the same interview, Charlize also denied having had a facelift, instead attributing her changed face simply to aging.

Slowed Metabolism:

Slowed Metabolism: “I’ll never do it again because you can’t take it off,” she explained, calling her 2018 film Tully (pictured) a particularly difficult experience to move on from

“I’m never going to do a movie again and be like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to gain 40 pounds,'” Charlize explained, referring to Tully.

“I’ll never do it again because you can’t take it off,” she explained.

“I was doing ‘Monster’ when I was 27,” she continued, referring to her 2003 film, in which she won an Oscar for the role of serial killer Aileen Wuornos. “I lost about 30 pounds overnight.” I missed three meals and was back to my normal weight.’

But things weren’t so simple when she took a similar approach to play a woman who has just given birth to her third child in Tully. She worked again with director Jason Reitman following the acclaimed 2011 film Young Adult.

It was much more than an “overnight” process for her to lose the weight she had originally gained.

“Then I did it for Tully at 43, and I remember after a year of trying to lose weight, I called my doctor and said, ‘I think I’m dying because I can’t lose this weight’ , she remembers.

“And he said, ‘You’re over 40. Calm down. Your metabolism isn’t what it used to be,” she continued. “Nobody wants to hear that.”

She added that even in a culture that’s more accepting of weight gain and differently shaped bodies, it’s still “hard” to feel like she can’t shed the extra weight.

However, she was able to look back on her ordeal in Tully and laugh as she said it was “so funny” when she had to perform on the red carpet after gaining weight for a role.

She especially credited her stylist Leslie Fremar for finding the ideal outfits for her temporarily curvier figure.

“I call her and I’m like, ‘I’m doing this movie about postpartum depression and I’ve gained about 40 pounds.’ And she’s like, ‘Oh my god! Oh my God! How should I dress you?”

Theron explained, “It’s not something you can find out at the last minute.”

Ultimately, Fremar was able to find “many open-back blazers” for the Bombshell actress.

Elsewhere in her Allure interview, Charlize complained about making action movies. While she didn’t have a problem with the genre, she found it frustrating that when she self-harmed, it took her “a lot longer to heal than it did” in her 20s.

Age was also an issue when she revealed that sometimes people complain that they think her slim face is the result of a facelift.

“What did she do to her face?” she recalled when fans said. “I’m just like, ‘Shit, I’m just getting older! That doesn’t mean I got bad plastic surgery. That’s just what happens.”
