This month, Charter Spectrum is increasing its TV service fees.
Starting March 18, Spectrum subscribers will see increased broadcast and equipment fees. The reaction from the cable giant has been intense and critical, in line with most rate hikes in the last five years.
How much will Spectrum prices rise?
Equipment fees will increase by $1 per month. TV broadcasting fees will increase by more than $3 per month.
Earlier this year, Charter Spectrum informed clients of the increase in rates in a letter.
The letter indicated that the TV allowance would increase to $21 per month. The hardware fee for high-definition boxes will increase from $8.99 to $9.99.
In total, these fees will be around $30 per month for all clients.
Why is Charter Spectrum raising prices again?
Spectrum takes the blame off himself when it comes to raising rates. The cable giant says it’s just a matter of increasing costs on the part of the business, which requires passing the cost on to customers.
“As a result of local broadcast or ‘network’ television stations drastically increasing Charter Communications’ signaling rates to our customers in recent years, we are forced to refer to these costs as ‘broadcast television’. For an additional fee,” says the cable giant. “These local television signals have historically been provided to us free of charge or at a low cost. However, in recent years, the prices demanded by local broadcasters have forced us to pass these costs on to customers.”
