Estebán Valdés, 62, son of Ramón Valdés (19241988), Seu Madruga from “Chaves”, has come across dozens of articles published in Brazil in recent days about the 100 years that his father would celebrate this Saturday (2 ) .

Seu Madruga, one of the most popular characters from the Mexican series in the country, deserves all respect it’s a shame that his 100th birthday will not take place until 2024.

Search sites give the wrong date of birth, which caused errors for many fans and media outlets. The actor and interpreter of Chiquinha’s father was actually born on September 2, 1924 that means he is now 99 years old. Sensitized by the excitement caused by the supposed anniversary, Estebán sent a copy of his father’s birth certificate to the Q5.

“Now we will always make public what is right,” he says. Don Ramón left behind 10 children and, according to Estebán, he was an extremely loving father and present in the lives (and everyday life) of everyone. “He bathed, changed diapers, fed, put to sleep, rocked…” he remembers. “We miss your love, your kisses, your hugs and your care so much.”

Estebán talks about the notsodistant past and comments on the theories circulating on social media about the reason that led to his father’s exit from the cast of “Chaves”. There are rumors of friction with Carlos Villagrán (who played Quico) and also about the relationship between Roberto Bolanõs, the creator of the series, and Florinda Meza (Mrs. Florinda), which would have led to some disharmony in the cast.

Bingo. “When she started that relationship with Roberto, she started to have an influence on the direction of the program. Florinda wanted to give ideas, tell us what we should or shouldn’t do,” he says, emphasizing: “My father himself told us. And so did he.” said that he disliked it. He didn’t like that Roberto was no longer the sole director or producer of the show.

However, when talking about his father, one cannot help but think of his most memorable moments in “Chaves” (19731980), such as the episodes with the entire troupe from the village in Acapulco. Another memory comes from the episode of the Good Neighbor Festival, which remains closed to the public due to a dispute in court between Televisa, the owner of the tapes of the original episodes of “Chaves”, and the Grupo Chespirito, led by Roberto Gómez comes Fernández, son of Bolanõs, who owns the copyright to the work.

No episode of the series has been broadcast on TV or streaming since July 2020. Just as Édgar Vivar, Seu Barriga’s interpreter, told F5 at the beginning of August that he hoped the dispute would be resolved as quickly as possible.

“I feel bad and sad, just like everyone else in the world, not just in Brazil. Now it was more than a fight or an argument, it was simply the end, the termination of a contract or agreement that had expired and had not expired. I hope they reach an agreement,” says Seu Madruga’s son, who will soon publish a book about his father.
