The holidays are going to be extra special for Cher fans this year. The 77-year-old diva has just confirmed the release of her first Christmas album, which is expected to hit the shelves of‘here December.
“I’m not a Cher fan. But I’m particularly proud of this album,” Cher said with a smile on Good Morning Britain on Monday morning.
“I’m really, really excited. There are millions of people who worked on it; I’ve never had duets on my albums before, but this time they were added at the last minute. [Mes collaborateurs] “Everyone is special, I admire them all,” the diva continued without naming names.
Although a release date for this 27th career work has not yet been announced, rumors are rife that it would be available in December. Cher began hyping the announcement a week ago by sharing a cryptic video on her social media that was infused with pop sounds reminiscent of her mega-success Believe. This new album marks the singer’s return to recording, five years after the release of Dancing Queen.
Autobiography and cinema
The next few months promise to be particularly busy for the singer. In the same interview – conducted live from her home in Malibu – she spoke briefly about her autobiography, a project she has been working on for several years now. But don’t expect to get your hands on this long-awaited volume any time soon; Cher is already behind schedule.
“I’ve had too long a life! I had too many projects and including them all on top of my personal experiences… it’s very difficult,” she said with a laugh.
And rumor has it that she will reprise her role as Ruby Sheridan in a possible third film in the musical saga Mamma Mia! will repeat. When Cher was asked about it, she was evasive, but her smile betrayed her obvious enthusiasm.
“I haven’t read a script yet. [La productrice] Judy Craymer is a friend and we talk about it… but I can’t say anything,” she said, still on Good Morning Britain.
Next to Jennifer Aniston
Until then, we should find Cher opposite Jennifer Aniston in the film Hail Mary, a biographical drama that tells the journey of Denise White, a former American beauty queen who became an agent for professional footballers. The project, which is still in pre-production, will also bring together Beau Bridges, Alfred Molina, Kristen Johnston and Frances Fisher.
In short, Cher has no intention of retiring, even after celebrating 77 Candles last May.
“I can’t believe I’ll be 80 someday, and sooner than I’d like. And I’ll still wear my jeans, I’ll still have long hair and I’ll still do the same things I’ve always done,” she promised.
