Cher was named temporary conservator of her son Elijah Blue Allman's estate in a conservatorship petition filed Wednesday.

The 77-year-old singer claimed in documents obtained by Fox News Digital that Elijah is “substantially unable to manage his finances due to severe mental health issues and substance abuse.”

Allman is the son of Cher and the late musician Gregg Allman. Cher married Gregg Allman a few days after her divorce from Sonny Bono in 1975.

Representatives for Cher did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Cher argued in the conservatorship petition, “Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from a trust established by his father for his benefit, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, the applicant is concerned that any monies distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, thereby.” Elijah has no wealth left to support himself and Elijah’s life is put at risk.”

Two of Elijah's siblings appointed their mother as conservator.

In court documents filed by his estranged wife, Cher is accused of kidnapping their son

“Petitioner has worked tirelessly to get Elijah into treatment and get him the help he needs,” the documents state.

Cher also claimed that Elijah's estranged wife, Marie Angela King, “does not support Elijah's recovery and that Angela is actively working to prevent Elijah from getting clean and sober or receiving the mental health treatment he desperately needs.”

“At last informed, Plaintiff believes that Angela took steps to have Elijah released from the treatment center where he received much-needed medical care. The plaintiff points out that since Angela and Elijah are currently in the middle of a dissolution process for appointment as administrator of Elijah's estate, Angela is not entitled to this unless the court concludes by clear and convincing evidence that one such appointment would do so
be in Elijah’s best interest.”

In documents obtained earlier this year, King claimed Cher kidnapped Allman in November 2022 while the former couple was trying to work on their marriage privately. Allman originally filed for divorce from King in November 2021, but she countered with her own filing a year later.

King claimed she knew nothing of Allman's whereabouts and learned from one of the four men that Cher had hired her to get her son back. The allegations that Allman was taken away on Cher's orders came to light in family court documents filed by King in December 2022, when King filed a motion to postpone a hearing.

At the time of filing, King stated that her “husband has been receiving medical care since August 2022” and that she last saw Allman during the alleged kidnapping.

Allman and King married for the first time in 2013. King is an English singer from the group KING. The couple separated in 2020 and Allman filed for divorce the following year.
