Cher remembers her last visit to Tina Turner at her home in Switzerland and the gift she gave her before leaving
Cher and the late Tina Turner were among two powerful female stars of their seven-decade era, which dates back to the 1960s.
Along the way, the multi-talented singers and actresses formed an enduring friendship that began when Turner was in the midst of her abusive marriage to her ex-husband, Ike Turner (1962-1978).
After learning of her ongoing, often very serious, illnesses over the past few years, Cher made it a point to visit her in her adopted home of Küsnacht, Switzerland, near Zurich.
“I started seeing her because I was like, ‘I need to invest this time in our friendship so she knows we haven’t forgotten her,'” she said, as reported by Page Six.
While she and other friends did their best to be consistent in their visits to the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, the Simply The Best star sent Cher home with a memorable gift during their final time together.

Since they’re the fashionistas they were at the peak of their careers, it makes perfect sense why she gave this special gift of the last few moments together.
“She gave me a pair of shoes the last time I saw her,” revealed Cher, 77, during her interview on MSNBC’s The Beat With Ari Melber, shortly after she aged on May 24 passed away at the age of 83.
“What shoes?” She was asked, which encouraged a quick answer. “Tina Turner shoes!” Cher said, laughing. “The big heels she’s wearing right now.” [walked] around as if they were nothing.’
The ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ star went on to reveal that she and other friends took turns spending time with Turner and how she thinks those visits made her “happy.”
Overall, she described the visits as happy visits full of conversation and laughter.
In a real effort, Turner managed to have a good time with her friends despite a serious illness.
But she finally admitted to Cher towards the end, “I’m really ready,” alluding to her being comfortable with her impending death. “I just don’t want to take it anymore.”
Initially, the ‘What’s Love Got To DovWith It’ star didn’t seem too open to visitors as her health seemed to be deteriorating.

“She was having a good time even though she was really sick and didn’t want people to know about it,” Cher explained.
In her final days, Turner had a dialysis machine by her side, used to clean her blood due to declining kidney health.
The legendary singer suffered from kidney failure from long-untreated high blood pressure that dates back to the late 1970s.
She eventually had to have a kidney transplant, suffered a stroke in 2013 that led to her having to learn to walk again, and was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016, among other things.
At the time of her death, Turner had been married to her husband Erwin Bach for almost ten years.
