Cheryl is being criticized for being cast in 222 A

Cheryl is reportedly making up to £750,000 for 2:22 A Ghost Story

Cheryl will reportedly pocket one of the biggest wages in West End history, with sources claiming she will earn £750,000 for four months of work on 2:22 A Ghost Story.

The 39-year-old singer, who will make her West End debut in the play next year, has signed up for the role despite having little acting experience and bosses are hoping she will help boost ticket sales.

Earlier this month, Cheryl announced she had joined the cast of the terrifying stage thriller, replacing Laura Whitmore, who will leave the show in January.

After signing up for 106 shows, The Sun recently reported that a business book revealed: “Cheryl gets around £1,000 a show.

“The deal is £100,000 but will also be linked to ticket sales. So if she helps move about 80% of the seats, she’s entitled to more money.”

Just last week, Cheryl was announced as the new leading lady in the hit play, taking on the role of Jenny, currently played by Laura Whitmore.

The star gave Vogue a rare interview earlier this year to discuss her late Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding, who died in September 2021 after a battle with breast cancer.

Cheryl’s retirement from public life was evident when she canceled a scheduled performance at Birmingham Pride following the death of Sarah, just weeks before the event was due to take place.

The tragedy also resulted in Cheryl shelving her new 12-episode BBC podcast – You, Me and R&B – after just four episodes, with the project already drawing criticism for its perceived use of “cultural appropriation”.
