Zendaya plays Chani, a member of the Fremen, a tribe that lives in the deserts of Arrakis and has learned to survive in the unrelenting heat, while Timothée plays the messianic figure Paul Atreides in both films.
The new sequel to Dune takes place immediately after the end of the first film, as Paul Atreides and his mother (played by Rebecca) join forces with Chani and the rest of the desert-dwelling Fremen to take revenge on the evil House Harkonnen, whose Members have killed most of his family and friends.
The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters at the end of October 2023, before being pushed back to November and finally March this year following strikes by the two writers and actors.
The photocall came after Zendaya revealed she was “too nervous” to even speak to her Dune: Part Two co-star Christopher Walken after he joined the cast.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actress was joined by her co-stars Florence Pugh, Austin and Timothée ahead of the film's March 1 release.
Christopher, 80, appeared in a preview clip played during the show, showing him as Shaddam IV, the Padishah Emperor of the known universe, in a dramatic scene with Florence, who plays his daughter Princess Irulan.
“Did you know Christopher Walken would play your father?” Jimmy, 56, asked Florence, who wore a white spaghetti-strap dress.

“Oh yeah, no. It was like, “By the way, your dad is Christopher Walken.” I thought, “Oh, thank God,” Florence said, laughing.
Jimmy asked them all if they could interact with Walken and admitted to wondering what the legendary actor was like.
'I did. I spent most of my time with him and Charlotte Rampling and Léa Seydoux, but mostly with him. And all of our stuff was so intense.
“So I was in a room with him for hours,” said Florence, who along with Walken is a newcomer to the “Dune” sequel.
“As a person, is he intense for hours?” asked Jimmy.
'NO. He's surprisingly silly. “In between takes, he would talk to me about his favorite donuts,” Florence revealed.
She said they would film a dramatic scene and then Walken would turn to her and ask her what her favorite type of donut was.
“Filled with jam, of course,” said Florence. “And then we did another take of a really serious scene.”
'Wow. I think it's great that you have that. “I didn't even say anything to him,” Zendaya admitted.
“Is that true?” asked Jimmy.
“I was too nervous. What can I say? I mean, what can I say? “I could have said, 'What kind of donuts do you like?' Now I know,” quipped Zendaya, who reprises her role as Fremen warrior Chani in the sequel.
'What do you say? You know what I mean? “I remember us in the trailer, everyone was having fun making music and when he came he was practicing my lines,” Zendaya added while mimicking the transition from dancing to reading a script in Walken's presence.
Jimmy then asked Timothée and Austin if they were also nervous about talking to Walken.
“I was pretty scared to talk to him,” Timothée admitted.
Jimmy asked Christopher if he had given them any career advice, and Austin replied that he had.
“As we were doing a scene with him, the offer to do Saturday Night Live just came,” said the Elvis star. “And I was so nervous that I wanted to say no.”
Austin said he asked Timothée, who previously hosted SNL in 2020, and everyone else who had done it before if they would be on the show.
“I was just so scared. At one point I thought, “Well, he's done this so many times and he's one of the best hosts.” So I said, “Chris, what do you think of Saturday Night Live?” Should I do it?” He says, “You have to do it.” “Just read the cue cards.”
“That’s pretty good,” Jimmy said. “That’s a solid Christopher Walken.”
