Some notes
- As expected, the Chiefs will be without Defensive end Mike Danna (wade) and kicker Harrison Butker (left ankle) wer lost practice all week. Wide receiver Mecole Hardman (heel), who logged some limited Exercises this week is a go. He was a full participant on Friday
- Chiefs rookie defensive end George Karlaftis on Danna: “It’s a big loss – but our mentality is always next man, you know? Mike brings many things to the table. He’s very versatile, he’s a great player and he can do a lot for us and help us win. But like I said, it’s the next man’s turn.”
- Danna’s next man is expected to be Malik Herring, according to Reid: “We had more [defensive ends] when we needed right there but we let 94 (Malik Herring) step in there and get some reps as well.
Chiefs DE Malik Herring has received plenty of help from his teammates this week as he prepares to play the Colts on Sunday.
“It’s a dream come true to make my first NFL debut,” Herring said. “I can’t wait to see how it goes.”

- Reid also had an update on Butker: “[The ankle’s] still a little swollen, but making progress. He’s working on his swings now, but it was a pretty good sprain. [It] he’s swollen up and it’ll take a minute to figure it all out. Hopefully he’s ready to go next week, but the kid, [Matt] Ammendola, he is doing a great job.”
- The Colts ruled star linebacker Shaquille Leonard (rear). out for the game, and that’s a significant loss. So is offensive lineman Bernhard Raimann (ankle) — who has snapped in both games for the Colts in left tackles this season out.
- Chiefs right guard Trey Smith on Leonard not playing: “I can speak for us – whenever someone goes down, it’s the next man up mentality. Once again, they’re another NFL football team, so they’ve got someone with them who’s fully capable. Nothing really changes for us. We have to go out there and perform at a high level and pretty much just do our job.”
- Wide receivers Michael Pittman Jr. (quad) and DeForest Buckner (hip) — who signed up limited exercises this week — are expected to play. Wide receiver Alec Pierce deleted the concussion log. Defender is Yannick Ngakoue (back). questionable.
